Mauricio Efren Sotelo-Cabrera

Mauricio Efren Sotelo-Cabrera is a Research Coordinator II in the Tropical Forages Program at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, with over 15 years of experience in the research and evaluation of forages for animal feed, soil recovery and conservation, and climate change mitigation. His expertise includes soil management and protection, integrating this with the selection of forage species across different agro-environmental regions, and designing more productive and efficient agricultural systems for natural resource management, such as silvopastoral systems and crop rotation. He has applied this knowledge in diverse regions, including the Eastern Plains of Colombia, the Patía Valley in Cauca, and the Colombian and Peruvian Amazon. Mauricio is experienced in the use of farm management tools, such as Trimble, and collaborates effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. He contributes to the development and execution of research projects, as well as budget management and its application in the agricultural sector.
