Martin Frick

Dr. Martin Frick is a senior climate and sustainability leader with over 20 years of multilateral and diplomatic experience. He currently serves as Senior Director for Policy and Programme Coordination at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where he leads the organization’s work on adaptation, mitigation, finance, technology transfer, and capacity building, managing approximately 400 staff and a budget exceeding €50 million. 

A trained diplomat and Ambassador of the German Federal Foreign Office, Dr. Frick has held leadership roles at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), E3G, and the Global Humanitarian Forum under Kofi Annan. He has represented Germany to more than 40 international organizations and played key roles in climate diplomacy, human rights negotiations, and the establishment of major UN frameworks  

Dr. Frick is recognized for his strategic vision, consensus-building skills, and ability to connect diverse stakeholder groups through compelling narratives. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Regensburg and speaks German, English, French, Spanish, and Italian.
