Manuel Alejandro Narváez Córdoba is a Bioinformatics Research Associate at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (Rice Program), where he supports crop genomics by turning complex sequencing datasets into reliable, decision-ready results.

With a background as a Biological Engineer, a specialization in Biotechnology, and an MSc in Omics Data Analysis and Systems Biology, Manuel works at the intersection of genomics, data science, and plant improvement.

He develops reproducible Linux/HPC pipelines for NGS data processing—quality control, alignment, variant calling and filtering—and conducts downstream analyses such as population structure, phylogenetics, and genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

He also curates large-scale genotypic resources, strengthens data standards for traceability, and builds lightweight tools (e.g., Shiny apps and automation scripts) that help multidisciplinary teams explore results, communicate findings, and accelerate research decisions.
