Iván Mauricio Hurtado Rivas
Iván Hurtado is a Research Associate with the HarvestPlus program under the Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit, based at the CIAT campus in Palmira, Colombia. His work primarily focuses on developing and promoting biofortified varieties of beans, rice, maize, and cassava, as well as providing support in statistical analysis.
He has actively contributed to the release of new high-iron bean varieties in Colombia and has collaborated with farmers’ associations across different regions of the country. In addition, his research has emphasized measuring genetic gain and the heritability of rice lines.
Iván holds a bachelor’s degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences with a focus on Plant Breeding.
