Erik Delaquis

Erik Delaquis is a scientist with experience in agronomy, agrobiodiversity, agroecology, and seed systems. Erik has a M.Sc. in Plant Science from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Production Ecology & Resource Conservation from Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. Erik has over 15 years of experience in agricultural research, including three years based in West Africa, eight years in Southeast Asia, and management of a four year research program in South America.

Erik currently works from the Lao PDR country office of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT as Research Team Leader for sustainable cassava seed systems, contributing to the Genetic Innovation and Crops for Nutrition & Health research themes. Erik’s work in seed systems spans Southeast Asia and includes a seed systems project active in a half-dozen countries in East and West Africa.

He is author of over 25 research articles and book chapters, and co-author of multidisciplinary Toolboxes for working with seed systems of vegetatively propagated crops, and in-situ conservation.
