Emely Mwale Banda

Emely is a results-oriented development professional with over 25 years of experience in program leadership, strategic planning, and multi-sector coordination across agriculture, nutrition, climate change, and information technology, and with qualification in MSc Project Management, BBA Computer Information Systems and Management and Certificate in Business Marketing Management. Currently serving as the Country Representative for the Alliance and Climate Action Coordinator in Zambia, providing strategic and technical oversight for national and regional programs that promote climate-smart agriculture and food systems resilience.

Coupled with an eleven (11) years proven track record at HarvestPlus, led nationwide biofortification initiatives—surpassing delivery targets and securing government buy-in for nutrition-sensitive programming sing the largest national humanitarian projects by the Ministry of Agriculture (Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) and the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (Food Security Program (FSP).

Zambia’s agriculture and nutrition programs delivery work with biofortified crops, a contribution to smallholder faming households increased households’ food, nutrition and incomes.  Also served as the longest serving Management Information Systems Officer for Program Against Malnutrition.  Emely brings deep expertise in stakeholder engagement, project management, data systems, and demand creation, consistently aligning interventions with policy frameworks and donor objectives. Her work reflects a commitment to inclusive, evidence-based programming and sustainable development outcomes.
