Diana Duarte-Delgado

Diana Duarte is the leader of the Bean Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT and is based in the Americas Hub. Her team aims to understand the genetic basis of bean agronomic traits to develop molecular markers that can assist in the selection of genotypes with superior attributes.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Diana earned her Bachelor's in Agricultural Engineering and her Master's in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the National University of Colombia. She went on to complete her PhD at the University of Bonn in Germany, followed by postdoctoral training at the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (Spain) and the John Innes Centre (UK).
