Brigitte Melly

Brigitte Melly is a data scientist in the Climate Security team, based in Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a PhD in wetland ecology and specialises in applying geospatial and statistical tools to understand ecosystem dynamics, climate impacts, and environmental risks. Her work focuses on integrating diverse data sources and methods to bridge disciplinary silos and support more effective, context-sensitive decision-making. She contributes to multinational projects on climate adaptation, ecosystem service modelling, nature-based solutions, and landscape resilience in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Brigitte, along with other members in the team, is currently collaborating on a project with the WFP in Mozambique on an ecosystem services study aimed at identifying priority nature-based solutions that can be implemented through a conflict-sensitive approach.
