PROPOSED REFURBISHMENT OF ALLIANCE OF BIOVERSITY INTERNATIONAL AND CIAT OFFICES AT CHITEDZE WITHIN THE CITY OF LILONGWE

1. This Invitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project which appeared in Malawi in the daily newspapers and website,  https://alliancebioversityciat.org  dated 25th March 2025. 

2. The Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT now invites sealed Bids from eligible National Tenderers for the Proposed Refurbishment of CIAT offices located at Chitedze Research Station Lilongwe, Malawi. 

3. Bidding will be conducted through the Open bidding Method whereby all building contractors registered with National Construction Industry Council of Malawi in the Five (5) Billion Kwacha Category and above are invited to bid.

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information/clarifications from the office of The Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT P.O.BOX 158 Chitedze Research station located along Mchinji Road Lilongwe, Malawi. 

5. Site Visit / Inspection of Works

All interested contractors who have expressed their interest and have received bid document shall be required to attend a Mandatory site visit at their own cost scheduled at 10:00Hrs on 8th April 2025.

6. Expression of interest to participate in the bid. 

The prospective bidders should express their interest by sending the following;

i. Name of company,
ii. Email to be used for sending the Invitation to bid document and
This should be sent to [email protected] with subject: Proposed Refurbishment of CIAT offices

The ITB will be sent through online system within 24hrs upon receipt of an email of expression of interest from the bidder. Expression of interest sent after will not be sent later than 2nd April, 2025 will not be considered.

7. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid security of K20 Million in the format provided in the bidding documents.

8. All bids must be submitted before 11.00hrs Friday 2nd May, 2025. Bids will be opened promptly thereafter at 14:30 hrs on the same date of submission at the office of The Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT Chitedze Research station located along Mchinji Road Lilongwe, Malawi and through the email to [email protected]

9. Late Bids, Portion of Bids, Bids not submitted and received on the opening date, and Bids not opened at the Bid opening date and time shall not be accepted for evaluation irrespective of the circumstances.

10. Electronic submissions of queries can be sent to [email protected]. Oral inquiries to any Other Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT contact, unless specifically requested, will result in disqualification. Late or non- compliant submissions will not be reviewed.
