Biodiversity for smallholders: A dialogue between Bioversity International and IFAD

Last week Bioversity International met with IFAD to discuss biodiversity-based approaches and methods to improve the resilience and nutritional security of smallholder farming communities.

Last week Bioversity International researchers met with IFAD staff to discuss biodiversity-based approaches and methods to improve the resilience and nutritional security of smallholder farming communities.

The knowledge-sharing event included presentations from Bioversity scientists that focused on strengthening seed systems for climate change adaptation, diversifying diets and food systems for better nutrition and health, and using neglected and underutilized species for increased resilience of smallholder farming systems.

The presentations stimulated an interesting discussion on how IFAD and Bioversity International can work better together to promote biodiversity-based approaches for smallholder farmers.

Read about some of the highlights from  the discussions on this IFAD blog post.
