What's in a seed? - "Neglected and underutilized species make us live longer"
From 2021-2025, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT coordinated action learning research in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe on activities related to the promotion, conservation and sustainable use of selected neglected and underutilized species (NUS). Benefits from producing, consuming, processing and selling NUS include improved health and nutrition, income generation, better adaptation to climate change, and diversified livelihoods. This brief presents highlights of the work done in the five countries in 2024-2025, based on technical reporting by partners and a synthesis of the results of a five-country exchange and learning workshop held 2-4 December 2025, in Kisumu, western Kenya.
