Strengthening inclusive climate adaptation tracking and reporting in Ghana’s agriculture sector
This deck presents six modules that build a systematic understanding of the global and national adaptation reporting landscape. The modules move from global frameworks to national practice. They introduce the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF), the Belém Adaptation Indicators, and the principles of inclusive adaptation tracking, including gender equality and social inclusion (GESI). They then turn to Ghana: what the first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) recorded, lessons and challenges from the Fourth National Communication through BTR1, and agriculture adaptation priorities, targets and reporting responsibilities under the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The modules were used in a workshop held in Accra to help Ghana prepare its second BTR (BTR2). The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT convened it with AGNES, the CSIR-Science and Technology Policy Research Institute, Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency. The workshop produced three outputs: a country test of the Belém indicators across crops, livestock and fisheries, a map of Ghana’s adaptation reporting architecture, and a BTR2 action plan centred on connecting existing systems into one outcome-focused information system.
