Scaling integrated digital climate advisory services for 6 million farmers through public-private partnerships in Kenya
This solution track seeks to establish an integrated digital climate advisory ecosystem in Kenya by connecting weather and climate forecasts, agronomic recommendations, farmer data and last-mile delivery systems. Building on KALRO’s Kenya Agricultural Observatory Platform, national meteorological capabilities and the national farmer registry, the model will deliver localised and multilingual advisories through SMS, USSD, interactive voice response and extension networks. Existing KALRO and meteorological advisory services reportedly reach more than one million farmers, providing a foundation for wider integration. By 2028, the track aims to reach six million smallholder farmers, support improved practices across two million hectares and activate more than 3,000 extension agents and agripreneurs, while progressively institutionalising delivery and financing within Kenya’s public and private systems.
