Scaling delivery systems for carp, tilapia, and small indigenous species genetics and input services in Bangladesh

This solution track strengthens Bangladesh’s aquaculture sector by scaling SeedCompact, a decentralised delivery approach connecting hatcheries, nurseries and traders to quality-assured, genetically improved seed of carp, tilapia and small indigenous fish species. The model combines improved genetics with trusted supplier information, digital traceability, quality standards, technical capacity and tailored financing. On-farm trials of improved rohu report 33–37% higher harvest weights and 24% higher profitability than local strains, while earlier decentralised delivery initiatives have reached more than 10,000 farmers. Working with government, research, private-sector and financing partners, the track aims to reach 400,000 farming households by 2030 while building sustainable institutional and commercial systems for quality fish-seed delivery.
