Scaling conservation agriculture to one million hectares in Morocco: Building climate resilience and employment for rural youth

his solution track supports Morocco’s ambition to expand conservation agriculture to one million hectares by 2030 by addressing barriers related to farmer awareness, access to no-till machinery, climate-resilient seed and institutional support. The approach integrates no-till seeding, continuous soil cover, cereal-legume rotations and drought-tolerant varieties, supported by domestic seed systems, mechanisation services and the Zra3Direct digital platform. Evidence shows that the full conservation agriculture package can increase cereal yields by 40–60% in severe drought years, while improving soil health and farm profitability.
