Rethinking partnership: What is effective localization and how do we get there?
The CapSha Accelerator focuses promotes more equitable, healthy, and demand-driven partnerships for capacity sharing across CGIAR and its partners, supporting the transformation of food, land, and water systems. It aims to support local leadership in how capacity development is understood, delivered, and embedded within CGIAR partnerships by strengthening individual, organizational, and systemic capabilities that no single actor can address alone. To achieve this, CGIAR has to be in a position to understand what successful localization would look like from the perspective of its partners. To contribute to this effort, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT conducted consultations on localization with some of its key partners. The main objective was to understand how CGIAR contributes to localization of climate action and to identify the challenges and opportunities for fostering localization. The insights from the partners are summarized in this brief and offer solutions for more equitable and impactful approaches to capacity sharing and collaborative research.
