Precision nutrient management at scale: Supporting Vietnam's one-million-ha low-emission rice program

This solution track supports Vietnam’s One-Million-Hectare High-Quality and Low-Emission Rice Program by scaling integrated Precision Nutrient Management in the Mekong River Delta. Anchored by Rice Crop Manager, the bundle provides field-specific fertiliser recommendations complemented by mechanised direct seeding, fertiliser deep placement, drone-based application and improved rice-straw nutrient recycling. Pilot evidence indicates approximately 30% lower nitrogen use, at least 20% lower pesticide use and around 5% higher yields. Through integration into national technical guidelines, extension systems, cooperatives and private-sector delivery channels, the track aims by 2030 to support 800,000 farmers in adopting precision nutrient management across one million hectares while improving profitability and reducing the environmental footprint of rice production.
