Leveraging public-private rice partnership models for food and nutrition security in Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria
This solution track scales the AfricaRice Public-Private Partnership Model to address fragmented rice value chains, postharvest losses, inadequate access to quality seed and mechanisation, and weak market coordination in Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria. The model integrates climate-resilient seed, mechanisation, postharvest technologies, digital traceability, finance and structured market relationships within coordinated public-private delivery systems. Available evidence shows improved paddy recovery from mechanised harvesting, lower labour costs and higher yields from quality seed. By 2030, the track aims to reach one million rice farmers across more than 500,000 hectares, create 50,000 value-chain jobs and mobilise over USD 200 million in investment, contributing to more competitive, commercially viable and resilient domestic rice value chains.
