Institutionalizing climate-smart agriculture in Turkana: A county policy for resilient livelihoods
The Turkana County Agriculture Policy 2025 establishes a legal and investment framework to institutionalize climate-smart agriculture in one of Kenya’s most climate-exposed regions.
Finalized with community input and technical support from the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture under the Accelerating Impacts of Climate Research for Africa project (AICCRA), the policy builds on Turkana’s mission to facilitate the county’s environmental and socioeconomic transformation, through the sustainable use of resources, to ensure a high quality of life for the Turkana People.
