Identification and development of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) markers for progeny testing and quality assurance and quality control in common bean
Two SNP marker panels—a progeny testing panel and a QA/QC varietal purity panel were developed to support common bean breeding programs, using genotypic data from a mid-density DArTag panel. Panels of up to 50 markers each distributed across all 11 chromosomes were selected based on several criteria including missing data, allele frequency, heterozygosity, linkage disequilibrium, and discriminatory power. These markers will improve breeding efficiency and quality control, with validation efforts ongoing and diagnostic metrics reported for the progeny testing panel
