iCLEANED institutional and partner technical capacity building: Training of trainers

The iCLEANED hands-on user training was conducted from 26 to 28 August 2026 at the KALRO Dairy Research Institute in Naivasha, Kenya. The training brought together 26 participants from diverse profiles across national and sub-national levels, producer cooperatives, and development and research institutions to strengthen participants’ ability to use the iCLEANED tool to assess environmental and productivity trade-offs in livestock production, particularly methane emissions from the dairy value chain. The training was a joint effort between the Solidaridad Network organization and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (ABC), and it was conducted in response to the need for technical capacity to apply iCLEANED within the Kenya Livestock Methane Reduction Strategy Project implemented by Solidaridad Network and its partners. It also aimed to prepare Nakuru and Nyandarua counties for methane accounting, verification, and reporting toward low-methane dairy systems.
