Case Study

Ethiopia’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Investment Plan (CSAIP) enables locally driven business cases to unlock $80,000 in climate finance

Between 2024 and 2025, the Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture (SCALA) programme in Ethiopia (a joint FAO–UNDP–CIAT partnership) supported the operationalization of the Ethiopia Climate-Smart Agriculture Investment Plan (CSAIP) through locally tailored community business cases. In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, the initiative translated national National Adaptation Plan (NAP) by converting climate-smart agriculture (CSA) priorities into concrete investments in three woredas, combining capacity development, input support, and participatory planning. The approach links national climate strategies with community-level implementation to strengthen adaptive capacity and promote climate-resilient livelihoods.
