Digital Climate Advisory Services (DCAS) in Rwanda – Gender responsive business cases report

This study was conducted to assess the sustainability of companies producing and delivering Digital Climate Advisory Services (DCAS) to smallholder farmers across Rwanda, with a specific focus on gender responsiveness. DCAS are “platforms, activities or tools that are used to disseminate agricultural information or advisories that are tailored to climate information to the farmers helping them to make climate resilient decisions while adapting to climate variability.” These services include radio information, online platforms, mobile applications, and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems. While face-to-face interactions with extension workers or peers allow for personalized guidance, trust-building, and immediate feedback, DCAS platforms such as IVR provides timely, consistent, and on-demand information that users can access at their convenience.
