Caractéristiques climatointelligentes des technologies agricoles promues dans le cadre du Programme de Résilience des Systèmes Alimentaires (PRSA/PRSA) au Togo.

This country brief evaluates the climate-smart characteristics of agricultural technologies promoted under the Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) in Togo. The objective is to provide scientific evidence on the extent to which the promoted technologies contribute to Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA). The study applied a structured evaluation framework based on 15 criteria aligned with the three CSA pillars. The assessment relied on a review of scientific literature, institutional and project documents, and expert knowledge to determine the climate-smart characteristics of each technology. The results identified several best-bet CSA technologies with varied Climate-Smart Index (CSI). These include improved crop varieties such as Vitoco cowpea, TZPB maize, PDCO orange-fleshed sweet potato, and Jasmine 85 rice; organic and biological agri-inputs such as Mycotri, Bokashi, and TopBio; equipment such as vegetable farming kits and rotary tillers; agricultural practices such as Smart-Valley and advisory tools such as RiceAdvice, and e-AgriConseil+. Overall, the findings highlight that a combination of improved climate-resilient varieties, soil fertility enhancement options, water-management practices, and digital advisory tools offers the strongest potential to increase resilience in agricultural systems in Togo. These evidence-based insights are intended to guide farmers, technicians, extension agents, policymakers, development partners, and research institutions in prioritizing and scaling CSA technologies that strengthen climate resilience and sustainable production in Togo.
