Capacity building of extension and lead farmers on climate-smart agriculture for soil and water management

This report presents the outcomes of a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) for soil and water management conducted in Katete, Zambia, from 21 to 23 July 2026. The training brought together 15 participants, including extension officers and lead farmers, to strengthen their understanding of climate change impacts, climate-smart agricultural practices, climate information services, gender and social inclusion, and knowledge-sharing approaches. Using participatory learning methods, participants examined local climate risks such as drought, flooding, rising temperatures, pests, and declining soil fertility, and explored practical CSA solutions including mulching, composting, agroforestry, water harvesting, conservation agriculture, and drought-tolerant varieties. The training enhanced participants' technical knowledge, confidence in communicating CSA concepts, and ability to support climate-resilient agricultural decision-making.
