Bundled digital financial services for smallholder farmers
This solution track addresses smallholder farmers’ limited access to formal agricultural finance in Kenya and India by combining digital agricultural credit scoring, climate-risk analytics and picture-based crop insurance. Remote sensing, climate and soil information support creditworthiness assessments, while geotagged crop photographs strengthen insurance loss verification, reducing risk for both farmers and financial institutions. IFPRI-led trials involving approximately 5,000 farmers provide evidence of improved credit access, insurance uptake and agricultural incomes. Delivered through established commercial partners including Dvara E-Registry in India and ACRE Africa in Kenya, the track aims by 2030 to reach 100,000 smallholder farmers, engage four national financial institutions and mobilise more than USD 25 million in agricultural finance and insurance.
