An alliance traceability tool helps move Honduras first smallholder producers’ EU deforestation regulation‑aligned coffee containers

In 2025, western Honduras piloted a digital traceability initiative to help smallholder coffee producers comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Using TraceFoodChain.org and Becamo’s OSapiens platform, the project transformed informal supply chains into verifiable, georeferenced, and EUDR-aligned systems. Co-designed with local associations and intermediaries, it introduced unique global identifiers (GeoIDs), QR-coded ID cards, and offline-first apps, enabling transparent, first-mile documentation of coffee while strengthening smallholder market access, data-driven decision-making, and long-term sustainability pathways.
