AgMIP policy brief: advancing climate resilient agriculture in Ghana
The AgMIP policy brief on Ghana highlights the urgent need to strengthen science–policy linkages to support climate-resilient agriculture under increasing climate risks. Drawing on stakeholder consultations with government, researchers, farmer organizations, and development partners, the study identifies strong demand for integrated, policy-relevant evidence on adaptation, food security, poverty, employment, and resilience. The brief emphasizes diversified agricultural investments across crops and livestock, with particular promise for climate-smart crops such as cowpea in northern Ghana. Using AgMIP’s Integrated National to Regional Assessment (INaRA) framework combined with the RIAPA economic model, the study demonstrates how linking national and sub-national assessments can better inform targeted adaptation and investment strategies.
