AgDataHub Ethiopia: A nationally governed data foundation for Ethiopia's digital agriculture
AgDataHub Ethiopia is a nationally governed agricultural data foundation designed to strengthen Ethiopia’s digital agriculture ecosystem by addressing fragmented data systems, inconsistent formats, and limited interoperability across institutions. The platform provides a governed national data layer that enables agricultural data to be acquired, curated, harmonized, catalogued, discovered, accessed, analyzed, and visualized through standardized services and APIs. Its federated architecture connects institutional data sources with digital agriculture applications and advisory systems, supporting trusted governance, data quality, traceability, and secure access while allowing source institutions to retain responsibility for their data. AgDataHub is designed to serve policymakers, extension services, researchers, digital innovators, and farmers by improving access to reliable and reusable information for planning, research, advisory delivery, innovation, and farm decision-making. The platform also links farmer feedback with curated data and dashboard analytics to identify advisory issues, service-use patterns, and farming constraints, enabling more timely and targeted institutional responses. By combining interoperable data infrastructure, stakeholder alignment, continuous improvement, and responsible scaling, AgDataHub Ethiopia provides a foundation for coordinated, evidence-based decision-making and the development of inclusive and scalable digital agricultural services.
