Blog CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform and Banca Sella Group Announce Partnership

AG 4 Future Food Accelerator calls on innovation teams from around the world that can transform value chains with ground-breaking technologies.
 

Rome, 6 March 2023 – CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP) is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Banca Sella Group and its Venture Incubator, dpixel to collaborate on AG 4 Future Food Accelerator. The program aims to scale up cutting-edge innovations that can drive forward climate action and transform value chains. Banca Sella Group is offering EUR 500K for this program, with an investment of up to EUR 100K for each of the 5 finalists.

A4IP calls on CGIAR scientists with science-based innovations that have the potential to make a real impact in agriculture to apply.

AG 4 Future Food Accelerator 

As the project’s Global Ecosystem Partner, A4IP is teaming up with the Sella Group and dpixel to scout the most innovative teams with technologies that can tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our world today posed by population growth, food waste, undernourishment, ecological inefficiency, and natural resource scarcity.  

AG 4 Future Food Accelerator is targeting solutions that include, but are not limited to, biotechnologies applied to agriculture, automation and robotics, data management and logistics, and innovative foods. These solutions can help to reduce costs, simplify supply chains, and create new business practices. The program’s focus on the entire value chain means that innovations could help make the industry more sustainable, accessible, efficient, and resilient to climate change.

For Whom

AG 4 Future Food Accelerator is a platform open to national and international teams, including CGIAR researchers with science-based innovations that have market potential, with bold solutions for creating greener, more sustainable food systems. Candidates will have access to expert advice, funding, market research, and a community of peers to help scale innovations past the lab and bring it to market.

To participate, applicants must be part of a core team, have a clear value proposition, a prototype that is ready to go to market within 6-10 months, and a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 or higher.

Steps and Investments

AG 4 Future Food Accelerator is a 6-month program divided into 4 phases. The first scouting phase involves identifying the best teams, followed by a second phase of business acceleration to support the business plan and select the 10 most promising innovators. The third phase focuses on the technical validation phase of the products and solutions for the 5 finalists, who will receive an investment of EUR 100K. The final matchmaking phase offers the opportunity to integrate innovations into the processes of established companies operating in the industry.
