The Alliance and CGIAR @ UN Convention on Biological Diversity 2022 (UNCBD COP15)

CBD logoAs part of CGIAR, the Alliance has played an active role in the process of formulation of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) for the past 3 years, by submitting a series of scientific position and background papers on matters related to food, agriculture and biodiversity, and access and benefit-sharing.

Join us from 7 to 19 December, in Montreal, Canada and virtually, to support the inclusion of food systems into the GBF.

About COP15

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) entered into force on 29 December 1993, with 3 main objectives:

  1. The conservation of biological diversity

  1. The sustainable use of the components of biological diversity

  1. The fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources

The 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, will draw from the work of the 5th Open-Ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (OEWG-5), to adopt a final version of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

This year, COP15 will be hosted under the Presidency of the People’s Republic of China, and the event will take place in Montreal, Canada. You can find all preparatory documents relating to the OEWG-5 meeting here and all useful documents relating to COP15 here
