Paula Andrea Espitia Buitrago

I work in the Tropical Forages Program at the Alliance Bioversity – CIAT in Cali, Colombia. I first joined CIAT as an Undergraduate Intern of Agronomy in the Entomology department and continued through my Masters in Agricultural Sciences while looking for resistance to spider mites in Brachiaria grasses in Kenya. As an early-career researcher, I am passionate about plant breeding and aspire to become a scientist to help develop more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
I am strong advocate for international Collaboration in science, and values working on global research projects. I enjoy nature walks, listening to salsa music, history podcasts, as well as making friends around the world.
