Justin Mabeya Machini

I am an Agricultural Innovation Specialist with international training and experience. I have training and experience in horticulture, crop protection, agricultural inputs regulation and environmental conservation.
Currently, I coordinate the Technologies for Africa Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) High Iron Beans (HIB) Compact, at the Alliance - PABRA, a project leading in the scaling of HIB across the implementing countries of Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. I have a keen interest in improving rural livelihoods sustainably, have a good understanding and experience in public and private sector corporate governance and financial management and I have published in refereed journals. On the social end, I am the volunteer lead and coordinator of colleague hikers from Alliance Africa office, which gives the team an opportunity to socialise, connect and generally build teamwork and thus contributing to enhanced performance. Overtime I have built good network of individuals and organizations which I have leveraged in and continue to leverage in my work of improving the livelihoods of the people and communities I work with.
One of my most recent key accomplishments in the community is leading the setting up a start-up – Mt Olives Centre of Influence (MOCI) – a community development programme involved in education, health and food security located in Ngong, Kajiado County. MOCI is currently running a primary school, and is looking at expanding its operations to health and food security.
