Eliel E. Petro

I am an Agronomist and Master in Agricultural Sciences with an emphasis in crop physiology from the National University of Colombia, Palmira, with 10 years of experience in basic and applied research in plant physiology, oriented to the characterization of rice germplasm under abiotic stress conditions (low radiation and high night temperatures) for adaptation to climate change, production, and seed quality.

In my experience I have generated knowledge, skills, and abilities for the execution of research projects and personnel management; design, establishment, evaluation of experiments, equipment management and interpretation of information for ecophysiological studies; management of climatic and phenotypic multi-environmental databases; statistical analysis of data and participation in the writing of publications in indexed scientific journals.

The research in which I participate within the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT together with an interdisciplinary team and different partners is oriented to the phenotypic characterization of rice diversity panels of the indica subspecies and populations in field and controlled conditions for the identification of morphological and/or physiological characteristics associated with yield under abiotic stress conditions in different agroecological zones of the country.
