Andrea Fernanda Cueltán Perengüéz

I'm agronomist and a master's student in Agricultural Sciences with a research focus on Plant Breeding at the National University of Colombia. Currently, I work as a Research Associate at the Bioversity-CIAT Alliance, inside the rice pathology program.
I have 12 years of experience in rice cultivation at CIAT, I have developed technical skills and specialized knowledge in Rice Pathology, Plant Breeding, molecular techniques, and rice physiology. I'm currently involved the research projects in are oriented towards the identification and diagnosis of quarantine pathogens for germplasm shipments to various national and international partners.
Additionally, I collaborate with Fedearroz on phenotyping, identification and isolation of Pyricularia strains from different regions of Colombia. Furthermore, we are actively searching for new regions and genes associated with resistance to Pyricularia (Magnaporthe oryzae) in rice cultivation to identify parental lines with varietal resistance that can be recommended for plant breeding programs.
