Gender-responsive monitoring approaches for agrifood stakeholders
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135623
Abstract
As agrifood stakeholders increasingly strive to contribute to gender equality and women’s empowerment, it is critical that they develop effective gender-responsive monitoring systems to track progress and guide decision-making. This brief aims to:
• Provide an overview of gender-responsive monitoring approaches, including suggested steps and elements for those seeking to develop or improve their monitoring approaches;

Evaluation of rootstocks for the multiplication of Phaseolus albicarminus Debouck & N. Chaves
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135853
Abstract
The wild bean P. albicarminus accession G40901 conserved in the Future Seeds germplasm bank (Palmira, Colombia) is currently not available because of lack of seeds for distribution. This living collection has been noted as susceptible to attacks of nematodes and root rots, putting the accession at risk.

Characterization of a diversity panel to obtain promising materials with high carbon sequestration capacity.
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135761
Abstract
Plants have the ability to take CO2 from the atmosphere and store it in their leaves, stems and roots. Part of the carbon is transferred to the soil through the root system and stored as organic carbon (COS), which is key to global warming mitigation processes. Therefore, the Alliance Bioversity International & CIAT rice program is evaluating and characterizing a diversity panel…

Propagation of Phaseolus albicarminus Debouck & N. Chaves, by layering, cuttings, and grafting.
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135843
Abstract
P. albicarminus, endemic to Costa Rica and a wild relative of cultivated beans, was collected in 2012 and described in 2020 by Debouck et al. The Future Seeds germplasm bank, located in Palmira, Colombia, safeguards one accession (G40901) of this little-known bean. The availability of original seeds of P. albicarminus is limited and production of new seeds has been scarce…

The Climate Security Sensitivity Tool (CSST)
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135739
Abstract
The Climate Security Sensitivity Tool (CSST) is an ex-ante programming assessment tool for conflict-sensitive and peace-responsive climate action, encompassing all production systems including livestock ones. The CSST supports practitioners and decision-makers developing adaptation initiatives in avoiding maladaptation and its associated unintended consequences, avoiding conflict relapses, and contributing to peacebuilding.…

How do environmental shocks affect competitors in a supply chain? Evidence from a competitors’ weighting matrix
https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135832
Abstract
Quantifying the impact of supply shocks on global commodity trade networks is an increasing concern for researchers under the current threats of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper proposes a novel methodology to estimate these effects across the entire trade network: we create a weight matrix based on an index that captures the extent to which two coffee-…

https://hdl.handle.net/10568/135833
Abstract
The grass species Urochloa humidicola adapts to different environmental conditions, primarily waterlogging. Accession CIAT679 stands out for its adaptation to acidic soils of low fertility and easy propagation, while hybrid Uh08 1149 excels in agronomic characteristics and high capacity of Biological Nitrification Inhibition (BNI). This study aimed to evaluate physiological…

Abstract
Understanding plant adaptation to edaphic factors requires knowledge of plant traits and responses of the root system. Root anatomy is a good indicator of the strategies and limitations of plants to its environment, yet, it is underutilized in plant breeding programs. The following was written to serve as a guide for the identification and quantification of root anatomical traits…
